UPDATE: Crystal Falls man involved in fatal accident identified

UPDATE — The identity of the victim in the February 4th snowmobile crash is Crystal Falls resident 42-year-old Jason A. Clark of Crystal Falls. The crash remains under investigation.


CRYSTAL FALLS — A snowmobile accident left one dead in the City of Crystal Falls.

On February 4th, 2020, at approximately 9:17 p.m., Iron County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a personal injury snowmobile accident on Trail 113 south of Superior Ave.

Preliminary investigation showed that the operator of the snowmobile was traveling North on Trail 113 and failed to negotiate a curve. The snowmobile ended up striking a tree, where the rider was thrown off the snowmobile.

The driver, a 42-year-old Crystal Falls man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation. No other details are available at this time.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police Accident Investigators, Iron County Search and Rescue, Aspirus EMS, Nash Funeral Home, and Iron County Central Dispatch.
