Ohio man injured in snowmobile crash on railroad tracks in Sands Township
SANDS TOWNSHIP — Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single snowmobile crash in Sands Township on Thursday, January 9, at approximately 2:33 p.m. The crash occurred on the railroad tracks near Trail 8, approximately half a mile south of Station Road.
25-year-old Lucas Arledge of Gahanna, Ohio was riding west along powerlines when he came to the railroad tracks. The tracks lay below grade, and he was unable to stop in time. Arledge became airborne and crashed into the tracks. He was ejected from the snowmobile, fracturing his leg.
Arledge was taken to Upper Peninsula Health Systems Marquette for treatment. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Deputies were assisted on scene by Sands Township Fire and EMS.
