New Year New Pet Adoption Event at UPAWS taking place through the end of January

GWINN — A special New Year’s adoption event is currently being held at the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter, and it will continue through the end of January.

To ring in 2020, UPAWS is offering some special rates on pet adoptions for the entire month. Adult cats are only $20.20 to adopt, and all dogs adopted will be available for $20.20 off of the regular adoption fee. Small animals, such as rabbits, are free to adopt.

Pets can be a great way to get active or to reduce stress, so a new furry friend could be the perfect thing to get their owners going on their 2020 resolutions.

“We want to help you with your New Year’s resolutions with a new shelter pet,” said Ann Brownell, UPAWS Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator. “So if you’re looking to exercise more, come on in and check out our dogs. If you want to read more or relax, check out our kitties or small animals. We just want to keep our pets out in the community and shining in the limelight, and in January people start to hole up after the holidays in their homes. And we just want to come up with cute ideas to get our animals homes.”

All adoptions include spaying or neutering procedures, initial vaccines needed, and more.
