One found dead in Sagola Township residential fire

SAGOLA TOWNSHIP — At approximately 4:06 p.m. on December 29, troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post responded to a report of a residential fire on Highway M-95 in Dickinson County.

The fire was discovered by a relative who attempted to enter the resident’s home but suffered smoke inhalation. A preliminary investigation determined that the resident of the home had been found deceased inside as a result of the fire. The investigation is ongoing, and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The name of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.

Assisting at the scene were Sagola Township Fire Department, Breitung Township Fire Department, Alpha-Mastadon Fire Department, STAR Ambulance, Aspirus EMS, Integrity Ambulance, WI Energies, and Dickinson County Sheriff Department.
