Friendly competition between police agencies help raise money for Salvation Army
MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Police Department and the County Sheriff’s Office were at the Marquette Walmart Supercenter for a Salvation Army bell ringing competition. The event took place on Friday, December 20th from 3-6 p.m.
The Marquette City Police, Chief Blake Rieboldt and Patrol Captain Mike Laurila will compete as bell ringers against the winners from last year’s friendly competition, Sheriff Greg Zyburt and his staff with the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office. They are hoping to see a big turnout with a lot of donations for the Salvation Army this holiday season.
“We are hoping to get a lot of people here,” said Sheriff Greg Zyburt, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office. “You know there has been a lot of advertising for this event and every penny counts. So we will take anything you got.”
The police agencies raised $1,715.85 in 3 hours.
