Room at the Inn searching for new leader

MARQUETTE — Doug Russell, who has been the executive director of Room at the Inn for 3 years, announced that his employment was terminated on Thursday.

Marquette’s homeless shelter and warming center is now looking for a new leader with strong management and fundraising skills.

Russell addressed the community in a Facebook post saying:

“It was an amazing opportunity, and I was privileged to lead our community’s most dedicated volunteers, but it couldn’t last forever. My employment with Room At The Inn was terminated today, so as I leave I say “thank you” to everyone for your very generous support of the mission. We created awareness and understanding as we served thousands of meals and kept hundreds of people safe and warm at night. Well done.”

Recently, Russell has been instrumental in creating discussions regarding the possibility of a permanent structure to better assist homeless individuals in Marquette County.
