One transported to hospital after car/motorcycle accident
HARRIS TOWNSHIP –On Sunday, August 19th at 6:18 P.M., Troopers from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post were dispatched to the scene of a motorcycle vs. car injury accident on US-2/41 near Eustice Road in Harris Township.
34-year-old Eric Laurin and his wife, 35-year old Tera Laurin from Carney, MI, were travelling westbound on US-2/41 when their motorcycle collided with a car attempting to turn eastbound onto US-2 from Eustice Road. The car was being driven by 71-year-old Mary Gaudette of Gladstone. Gaudette suffered no reported injuries, but was found at fault for failing to yield the right of way to the motorcycle. Neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the incident.
Eric Laurin was not wearing helmet at the time of the accident. He was airlifted from the scene by Valley med to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of multiple non-life threatening injuries. Tera Laurin was wearing a helmet and walked away from the scene with minor injuries.
The MSP-Gladstone Post was assisted on scene by the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department, Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Hannahville Police Department, Rampart Ambulance, Valley Med, Harris Township Fire Department, Gurley Township Fire Department, and several members of the Bark River Harris High School football team, who were at school for pictures and an assembly.
