Iron River woman wins $300,000 from Michigan Lottery
IRON RIVER — An Upper Peninsula woman says winning $300,000 on a Double Bonus Cashword instant game ticket is overwhelming.
“My husband and I were leaving for a wedding, so I bought a few tickets to scratch on the ride down state,” said Lynn Burke, of Iron River. “I scratched the third ticket off and the last word I found was ‘okay.’ I thought to myself: ‘I sure did better than okay if this is really a winner’
“My husband pulled off the highway at the next exit so we could scan the ticket. When the clerk handed us a slip that said to file a claim, we knew it was real!”
Burke bought her winning ticket at the Holiday gas station, located at 19 West Adams Street in Iron River. She plans to complete some home improvements with her prize and share some with her family.
