Michigan State Police investigating fatal three-vehicle accident
NORWAY TOWNSHIP — On July 7th at approximately 5:59 P.M., Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post responded to a three-vehicle crash at the Vulcan BP gas station on US-2 in Norway Township.
A Chevrolet Impala was stopped in the eastbound lane of US-2 attempting to turn left into the Vulcan BP when a Ford pickup rear-ended the Impala. After the Ford collided with the Impala, it went into oncoming traffic in the westbound lane, where it collided with a GMC Acadia head on. The Acadia overturned and a small fire started as a result of the collision.
The driver of the Ford, 34-year-old Carl Patrick McBroom of Vulcan, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Driver of the Acadia, 66-year-old Donald Joseph LeBombard of Vulcan, was transported to Dickinson County Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The passenger of the Acadia, 61-year-old Sheryl Ann LeBombard was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI and is in stable condition. The driver of the Impala, 33-year-old Troy Anthony Turini, and his three-year-old daughter reported no injuries on the scene.
The crash is still under investigation. Troopers were assisted by the MSP Crash Reconstruction Unit, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Norway Police, Integrity Care Ambulance, and Norway Township Fire.
