Ely Township accident sends one to hospital
ELY TOWNSHIP — On Tuesday, July 3rd, at approximately 11:55 P.M., 41-year-old David Murray of Champion was driving westbound in a 99 Ford pickup that crashed into the rear end of a stopped 2004 GMC Yukon, driven by 32-year-old Melinda Nelson of Ishpeming.
Nelson had four children in her vehicles aged 18 months, five years, and two aged ten. Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department attribute seat belts and child seats to saving the lives of all passengers in Nelson’s vehicle.
Murray was transported to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
