Fire kills dog, building total loss
ISHPEMING — On Tuesday, June 26th at approximately 10:00 a.m. the Township of Ishpeming Fire Department, along with the City of Ishpeming Fire Department and Marquette County Rescue 131, were called to a structure fire at 250 Marble Street in the Township of Ishpeming by Marquette County Central Dispatch.
When firefighters’ arrived on scene smoke was coming from second story of the building. Fire extended from the center of the first floor to the second floor. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately 3 hours checking for further fire extension and putting out hot spots.
The building was occupied by a pet at the time of the fire. CPR was attempted on a dog but was unsuccessful.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. The building is total loss. No injuries occurred at the scene.
Assisting at the scene were the City of Ishpeming Fire Department, the City of Negaunee Fire Department, Marquette County Rescue 131, Ishpeming Township Police Department, UP Health Systems Bell EMS, UPPCO and SEMCO.
