MARQUETTE — Good news for anyone who might be looking for a new hobby because this weekend you have two days of free fishing.

The Department of National Resources is allowing 2 days of fishing with no license so people can go out and try the outdoor activity. Locals and out-of-state visitors may enjoy fishing on both inland and Great Lakes’ waters for all species of fish.

All fishing regulations will still be in effect and apply to all patrons. This activity is a great way for families and friends to get out and try something new in the Upper Peninsula.

“It’s a great weekend for people to get out and do this,” said, Deputy Public Information Officer, John Pepin. “Often they can tag along with friends or sometimes friends visiting from anywhere else would come out. It’s a chance to take the kids fishing, or the kids take the adults fishing in a lot of cases. It’s a great chance to experience it and not have the cost of buying a license.”

The event goes from June 9th to the 10th. For more information about the weekend and fishing regulations click here.
