Former NMU professor pleads no contest
MARQUETTE — A former Northern Michigan University professor arrested on eight felony charges has entered a plea in Marquette County Circuit Court.
Amber Rae Suggitt, 33, pleaded no contest to one count of kidnapping, one count of torture and one count of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual penetration.
All other charges, including assault with intent to murder, first degree home invasion and felonious firearm charges, were dropped as part of the agreement. Because of the agreement, a jury trial that was scheduled for June 4th has been cancelled.
Suggitt will be sentenced on July 25th.
