UPDATE: One taken to hospital following two-vehicle accident on US-41
UPDATE: Thursday, May 17th 12:30 p.m.
Two vehicles were involved in the accident that reduced US-41 to a single lane on Thursday morning.
62 year-old David Lane was driving a 2005 Buick passenger car and was turning eastbound on US-41 from the driveway of Gordon Food Services. Lane did not see an oncoming 2009 Volkswagen van that was westbound on US-41 and entered the van’s path.
27 year-old Sarah Hoffman of Skandia was driving the van. She swerved to avoid striking the Buick, but was unable to avoid a collision.
Upon collision, Hoffman’s vehicle rolled over into the ditch on the north side of the highway. Hoffman was treated by EMS personnel from the Marquette Township Fire Department and was then transported to UPHS – Marquette for the treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Lane was not injured in the crash. He was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
The van was extensively damaged, and was towed from the scene by Marquette Detailing Towing Service. The Michigan State Police also assisted on the scene.
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — US-41 was reduced to a single lane in Marquette Township due to a car accident Thursday morning.
The accident was reported in the westbound lane US-41 right in front of Lowe’s just after 10 A.M.
One person was taken to the hospital according to an officer on the scene. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
