MUNISING — A sentencing date has been set for DeShawn Madden, days after a jury found him guilty of second degree murder.

Madden will be sentenced on June 4th in Alger County Circuit Court. Madden’s five-day jury trial concluded on Friday.

The jury found Madden guilty of second degree murder months after his cellmate, Rodriquez Montez Burks, was found unresponsive and wrapped in blankets at Alger Correctional Facility last July. The autopsy report revealed that Burks died as a result of a closed head injury.

Madden was already serving time for three crimes out of Wayne County, including armed robbery.
