Police seize 75 lbs of marijuana in Houghton
HOUGHTON — On April 5th, detectives assigned to the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) executed four search warrants at residences located in Houghton, Hancock, Calumet and Dodgeville. As a result, detectives seized approximately 75 pounds of processed marijuana, 45 marijuana plants, and cash from the drug proceeds.
A 28 year old Houghton man was arrested for felony distribution of marijuana and was lodged at the Houghton County Jail. The suspect was given a $30,000 cash bond.
Additional arrests are expected. The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time.
Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, Houghton City Police Department, Calumet Village Police, Calumet Township Fire, Michigan State Police Calumet Post, Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team, and the Michigan State Police Hometown Security Team all assisted with the search warrants.
