Gwinn man arrested on criminal sexual conduct warrant

MARQUETTE COUNTY — A man wanted for third degree criminal sexual conduct was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday.

At 6:45 p.m., Ishpeming City Police Officers responded to the area of the Phelps Square Apartments on an anonymous tip. The tip stated that 20 year-old Christopher James-Joebrian Williams of Gwinn was in the area.

Upon arrival, officers noticed a vehicle in the parking lot and a male, who matched the description of Williams, sitting in the back seat. Officers approached the vehicle and after an investigation, took Williams into custody without incident. He was lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Forsyth Township Police had placed a wanted posted on their Facebook page for Williams. A warrant for his arrest authorized on February 28th by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office on a charge of third degree criminal sexual conduct.

Authorities had received tips over the past month from the public about his whereabouts. The Forsyth Township Police and the Ishpeming Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance.
