Escanaba man arrested on 14 counts of child sexually abusive activity
ESCANABA — An Escanaba man has been arrested on fourteen counts of child sexually abusive activity.
Michigan State Police arrested John Schiska on Friday, February 16th on a 14-count felony warrant. The Delta County Prosecutor issued the warrant related to distributing child sexually abusive material, possessing child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit criminal acts.
The investigation has been handled by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit. Ongoing assistance in the matter has been provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, MSP Emergency Support Team, Escanaba Public Safety, the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office and the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office.
Initial pretrial hearings will be held in Delta County District Court. Delta County Prosecutor Philip Strom said that at this time, these charges are accusations and Schiska is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
