UPAWS Chili Cook-Off Challenge set for Saturday

ISHPEMING — UPAWS is hosting a Chili Cook-Off fundraiser this Saturday, February 15th at River Rock Lanes and Banquet Center in Ishpeming.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., tasters can pay $10 to sample the different chilies and select their favorite. The money raised will go to funding the new UPAWS shelter in Sands Township and for animal care.

Even if you don’t like chili, there will be cake, prizes and music and you”ll be supporting a good cause.

“We’ll have people come and vote, they can try out the chilies. There’s also going to be a band there, so people can listen to music, hang out, have a good time, try some chilies and have a good evening out in the community,” said Tera Savastano, a member of the UPAWS Fundraising Committee.

It costs $15 to enter your chili into the contest, and that includes the general admission price so you can taste your competitor’s chili. There is an entry form required for participation (which you can find HERE) that can be turned in at the event.
