Upper Peninsula Supply Co. celebrates store grand opening and 10 year anniversary
MARQUETTE — Bugsy Sailor and Paul Hess, business partners and Upper Peninsula ambassadors, celebrated a business milestone on Thursday.
The Lake Superior Community Partnership hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony with Upper Peninsula Supply Co. to celebrate the storefront opening and the 10 year anniversary of the brand, formerly known as Yooper Steez. In the last decade, Yooper Steez has grown from an online store offering Upper Peninsula screen-printed gear to opening a storefront and shared creative space.
The space on Washington Street houses everything from their apparel and gifts to a gallery wall and shared offices with other creative brands.
“A lot of people move in the opposite direction. They start in-store and then go online, but we love having a physical presence, we love being right downtown on Washington. It’s really fun to meet the customers who come in and out every day. It’s nice hearing their stories, seeing what their connection is to the U.P., if they grew up here, if they’re locals and whatnot,” said Sailor.
The partners are working on several secret projects and hope to sub-brands of Upper Peninsula Supply Company in the future.
The store is hosting a grand opening after party Thursday night from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., complete with snacks, drinks and prize giveaways. For more information on the after party, click HERE.
