Crystal Falls man taken to hospital after three-car accident

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Crystal Falls man was taken to the hospital for treatment following a three-car personal injury accident in Iron Mountain.

The Iron Mountain Fire and Iron Mountain Police Departments were dispatched to US-2 near “H” Street and the Neu-Cup parking lot at 12:03 p.m. Wednesday. A pickup truck was southbound on US-2 approaching “H” Street when the 62 year-old driver from Crystal Falls experienced a life-threatening medical condition, causing him to go unconscious.

At that time, the pickup truck crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a passenger car that was stopped on US-2 waiting to turn west onto “H” Street. The pickup truck then left the roadway, continued travelling south onto the sidewalk and eventually struck a second pickup truck parked in the Neu-Cup parking lot.

After the impact in the parking lot, the pickup truck spun around and then continued northbound up an embankment where it stopped moving. Responding firefighters and a responding officer were able to remove the subject from the pickup truck and disable the vehicle that was still in drive with the wheels spinning at a high rate of speed.

The 62 year-old male driver of the pickup truck was transported to Dickinson County Hospital for treatment by Integrity Care EMS. No other injuries were reported.
