Bergman announces $17.9 million investment from USDA for Delta County facility

ESCANABA — After meeting with constituents in Escanaba on Wednesday, Congressman Jack Bergman announced a $17.9 million investment by the United States Department of Agriculture for Mental Health, Sheriff’s Office and jail facility in Delta County.

“Investing federal dollars back into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula remains a constant priority for me. I’m pleased to announce the USDA investment in the long overdue upgrade of the Delta County Sheriffs Office, inmate housing facility, and public building.” said Bergman in the press release.

The USDA has announced that rural development funds will be used for the construction of a new jail facility in Delta County. The building will be used to house a new Sheriff’s Office, jail and public building. In addition, the facility will have expansion capabilities on the south side for an addition mental health location or housing.
