MARQUETTE COUNTY– It may not be warm and sunny outside, but one organization is already thinking about your spring and summer skin care needs.

Just Believe is a non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness of skin cancer in memory of a young woman named Jodi Ball. The organization gives back to the communities that impacted Ball’s life by placing portable sunscreen dispensers in public places all across the U.P.

In order to install more dispensers, Just Believe has recently started sending letters to businesses, groups and organizations to ask if they would sponsor dispensers. Just Believe Awareness Chair and Trustee Delight Hill knows that this may be a long-term venture, but she is committed to the cause.

“This is what my project is now. I’d like to see not only businesses donate or purchase sunscreen dispensers, but organizations, too, and to put the dispensers all over — in parks, in playgrounds and every place that I can think of that would benefit having this available,” said Hill.

Currently, Just Believe has installed 27 dispensers across Marquette, Delta, Alger and Baraga counties, courtesy of grant money from IMPACT Melanoma and the Superior Health Foundation. Hill said she would one day like to see the dispensers across the entire Upper Peninsula.
