Community helps local credit union provide for families in need
GWINN — Honor Credit Union and residents of Gwinn are helping out their neighbors this Christmas season with their Honor Family Christmas Tree.
This is the first year that the Gwinn branch has had an Honor Family Christmas Tree. They partnered with St. Vincent de Paul to adopt two local families in need.
Members of the Gwinn community donated many presents to the credit union, which are to be delivered to the families just in time for Christmas.
“We were able to get some requests, some needs from the families and with that, we put them on ornaments that our membership was able to come and grab and have fun going shopping,” said Honor Credit Union Branch Manager Jamie Gollakner. “It kind of shows the Christmas spirit and the cool community that we have here in Gwinn.”
“This is amazing,” said Brenda Tregembo, the conference president for St. Vincent de Paul. “I’ve been in contact with the two families and they are overwhelmed and so grateful.”
It’s not too late to donate presents to families in need. St. Vincent de Paul takes donations up until Christmas Day, and saves the remaining presents for next Christmas.
