Man pleads not guilty by reason of insanity
HOUGHTON — The case of a Grand Rapids man who is accused of killing his sister in Laurium last year continues in Houghton County Circuit Court.
Thirty–three year–old Christian Paul Kitti has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. According to the court, an evaluation must be performed by the downstate treatment facility that Kitti is currently lodged in. No further proceedings have been scheduled.
Kitti was found incompetent to stand trial in September of 2016, but the court said he could be made competent with treatment. Last month, it was announced that Kitti would stand trial in Houghton County this month via video conference from his treatment facility.
He is accused of shooting his 44 year–old sister, Kimberly Renee Bess of Calumet.
