Plea agreement reached in embezzlement case involving GM of local hockey team
MARQUETTE — A Marquette man charged with embezzling funds from a local hockey team has accepted a plea deal in Marquette County District Court.
Twenty-nine year-old Brice Burge pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of using a financial transaction device to fraudulently withdraw money, more than $200 but less than $1,000 dollars. The felony charge of embezzlement, more than $1,000 and less than $20,000, from a non-profit or charitable organization was dropped in exchange for his plea.
Burge served as the general manager of the team for the Marquette Mutineers hockey team during their inaugural season until he was fired by the team earlier this year.
He will be sentenced on February 8th, 2018.
