Not so ‘Silent Night’ at Ishpeming holiday parade
ISHPEMING — Thanksgiving has come and gone which means it’s time to start decorating for the holidays to come and Ishpeming kicked it off with a parade last Friday.
The parade downtown started with a procession of local law enforcement and first responders driving down Main Street passing out candy and goodies to children.
A tree–lighting ceremony as well as a meet–and–greet with Mr. and Mrs. Claus was held after the parade festivities. Children were given the opportunity to tell ‘the big man’ exactly what they wanted for Christmas.
“A new bike ,” said one child after meeting Santa Claus.
“A silicone baby, you know what that is?” A youngster asked.
“A baby and a bubba, I want a baby and a bubba,” a younger child added. .
“A baby german shepherd, a guinea pig, a new keyboard, and a metal flute,” shared a child in line to see Santa.
More events will happen throughout the month in honor of the holiday seasons. Throughout the area other towns, such as Marquette, will also be hosting holiday parades and ceremonies in the coming days.
