Intoxicating substances found to be factors in head-on collision
CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP — Officers from the Chocolay Township Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on M-28 near the intersection with Lakewood Lane.
The vehicles collided head-on. Both vehicles suffered disabling damage to the front ends and had to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle was transported to UP Heath Systems — Marquette by ambulance. The driver of the westbound vehicle was not injured.
Alcohol and controlled substances are believed to be factors in the crash. The driver of the westbound vehicle was arrested on the scene. Charges are being sought on both drivers for driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
