Police: Suspect used victim’s funds for his own personal use

GWINN — A Gwinn man has been arrested on three felony charges, including embezzlement, for allegedly stealing money from a vulnerable adult.

Gary Lawrence Vadnais, 49, was taken into custody Tuesday by the Forysth Township Police Department. A warrant for his arrest was authorized by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation that spanned several months.

Police say Vadnais had been a court appointed guardian for the victim. He used the victim’s money for his own personal use.

Here are the charges for Vadnais:

-Embezzlement from a vulnerable adult $1,000 or more but less than $20,000 (5-year felony)
-Possession of a financial transaction device (4-year felony)
-Illegal use of a financial transaction device (4-year felony)

Vadnais was booked in the Marquette County Jail. No bond is set at this time.
