Local boy’s observation saves unconscious man from fire
KINGSFORD — An unconscious man was rescued from a fire Tuesday morning thanks to the quick wits of a nine year-old boy.
At approximately 9:30 this morning, officers from Kingsford Public Safety say they were dispatched to a residence on Sherman Street on a report of smoke coming from the eaves. Officers used forcible entry to enter the locked residence and found a 91 year-old male unconscious in his bedroom. The man was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for observation.
The 9-1-1 call was made by a woman whose nine year-old grandson had been playing outside and noticed the smoke. The fire was contained to the attic and the scene was cleared by 11am. Beacon Ambulance, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin Electric and DTE and Kinsford Public Works Department assisted on scene.
