Drug case picked up by federal government

MARQUETTE — A Milwaukee man arrested by authorities in Marquette County on drug charges will soon face charges at the federal level.

Lornell Mitchell, 34, had two counts of delivery/manufacture cocaine less than 50 grams against him dismissed in favor of federal drug charges in North Dakota. Mitchell was arrested June 27th by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) in Gwinn.

His co-defendant in the Gwinn case, William Hebert, 60, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and cocaine last month. Hebert will be sentenced next month.

Mitchell was also arrested in Moorhead, Minnesota in April on a first-degree controlled substance charge.
