Sheriff: No more leeway on speeding

SAULT STE. MARIE — Speed increases are making their way across the Upper Peninsula.

Chippewa County Sheriff Mike Bitnar is offering what he calls some ‘friendly advice’ to motorists traveling through the county. With the posted speed limit going up from 55 to 65 miles per hour on parts of M-28 and M-123, Sheriff Bitnar says the 10-15 mile per hour leeway in the past will not happen as it is too dangerous to have motorists traveling 75-80 miles per hour on those roads.

The sheriff made a post on the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. You can read it by clicking HERE.
