U.P. man confesses to killing woman
ST. IGNACE — A 21-year-old man is in jail awaiting arraignment on a homicide charge.
According to the St. Ignace Police Department, the man walked into the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office Saturday morning and told police a relative of his was deceased. Officers went to a downtown St. Ignace residence where they found the body of a 66-year-old woman.
Authorities at the scene believed the woman’s death was not due to natural causes. Back at the police station, officers interviewed the man, who confessed to the homicide.
The suspect is lodged in the Mackinac County Jail. His name won’t be released until he’s arraigned.
The man and deceased woman are both residents of St. Ignace.
