UPDATE: Suspect arrested for allegedly shooting a horse
UPDATE — Friday, March 17, 2017 4:50 p.m. EST
Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office have released more details regarding Thursday’s shooting that injured a horse.
An investigation into the incident revealed a draft horse was shot in the neck and the hind quarter. The horse was seen by a veterinarian and is still alive. Deputies were also able to recover the two stray bullets that hit a nearby house.
Another horse was found dead on the property back on February 24 after breaking its leg, severing a main artery. Evidence from Thursday’s incident connects the arrested subject with that incident as well.
The investigation remains ongoing. The suspect will be arraigned on Monday in Iron County District Court.
CRYSTAL FALLS TOWNSHIP — The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place Thursday afternoon in Crystal Falls Township.
At approximately 12:50 p.m., Iron County Central Dispatch received a call about a shooting that injured a horse. Shortly after that, another call came in reported two bullets entered a home near the same location.
Deputies with the sheriff’s office arrested an individual that was involved in the shooting. The investigation is continuing at this time.
