U.P. Gander Mountain not on company’s closing list

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Upper Peninsula’s only Gander Mountain location will not be closing its doors.

Gander Mountain announced its closing 32 stores in 11 different states. It’s all part of the company’s restructuring plan.

Gander Mountain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last Friday. The Marquette Township store was spared from the closing list.

In fact, no Gander Mountain locations in Michigan are on the list. Two stores in Wisconsin- in Germantown and Eau Claire- will be closing.

More than twelve hundred people are expected to lose their jobs when the stores close the next few weeks.
