RIPLEY — Two people were taken to the hospital after authorities discovered a one-pot meth lab inside a Ripley residence Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., deputies with the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical call at a residence on Royce Road. Officers discovered a meth lab and meth lab components inside the residence.

Members of the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team were called in to remove the hazardous materials. Two unresponsive people located in the residence were transported by ambulance to UP Health System – Portage.

The medical conditions of the two people as well as their identities are unknown at this time. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post assisted at the scene.
