Two vehicle accident between semi-tractor trailer and pickup truck
NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — A semi-tractor trailer and a pickup truck sustained some damage after an accident on U.S. 41.
Emergency crews were dispatched to a two vehicle accident on U.S. 41 near Brebner Road in Negaunee Township around 9:50 P.M. Thursday night. Francis Giroux, 37, of Saint Praxede Quebec, Canada was traveling eastbound on U.S. 41 in a 2006 Kenworth Semi-tractor trailer, when he collided with Trevor Williams, 19, of Ishpeming who was driving a Chevrolet pickup.
Williams, who was not wearing a seat belt, pulled into the path of Giroux from a business driveway on the south side of U.S. 41. Both vehicles sustained functional damage, Williams was transported to UP Health System Marquette for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was reduced to two lanes both east and west for around 45 minutes. The accident remains under investigation. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on the scene by the Michigan State Police and Motor Carrier Division, Negaunee Township Fire/EMS, Marquette County Rescue, and UP Health System Marquette EMS.
