UPDATE: Name released in car vs. train accident
UPDATE — Thursday, January 5, 2017 11:45 a.m. EDT
Authorities in Delta County have released more information on an accident involving a train and a car that occurred Wednesday night in Bark River.
The woman in the car has been identified as Karen Welch, 70, of Bark River. According to the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Welch sustained multiple injuries as a result of the crash.
She is currently listed in stable condition at UP Health System – Marquette. The accident remains under investigation.

BARK RIVER — A Bark River woman was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday afternoon following a car versus train accident.
Deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office say they responded to D Road in Bark River just after 4:00 p.m. A Valley Med helicopter landed near the scene and transported the injured woman to UP Health System – Marquette. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.
The accident is still under investigation and more details will be released Thursday. The Bark River Fire Department, Bark River First Responders, Rampart, Michigan State Police, Department of Natural Resources, Valley Med Flight Services and Gene’s Towing assisted deputies at the scene.
