Superintendent: No deemed threat to school
KINGSFORD — We have information about a story that went viral on social media concerning a recent playground altercation earlier this week at Woodland Elementary School in Kingsford.
According to Breitung Township Schools superintendent Craig Allen, an elementary student told another student that they were going to ‘kill someone’ after a rough housing incident during recess.
Darren Petschar, the principal at Woodland, found out about what was said and conducted a threat assessment with that student.
It was determined that what the student said was during the heat of the moment and that there was no threat. Through word of mouth and social media, the student’s words were turned into something else– that they were going to bring a gun to school the next day and shoot people.
Superintendent Allen told ABC 10 that there never was a threat to the elementary school.
