CLEVELAND, OH — Cliffs Natural Resources and the United Steelworkers announced a three–year contract agreement today that runs through 2018. The two sides first announced the new contract last month.

The new contract covers 2,000 USW–represented workers at the two U.P. mines and two mines in Minnesota. Local unions have spent the last month voting to ratify the contract.

The contract agreement comes on the heels on the closing of the Empire Mine, which ceased production in early August.
