BREAKING: State Representative Pettalia killed in motorcycle accident

PRESQUE ISLE — The State representative was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 61.

According to WBKB, Peter Pettalia (R-Presque Isle) was killed in a motorcycle accident this evening. He was 61.

Reports came in that 106th District State Representative Peter Pettalia died Monday evening in Montmorency County around 10:15 p.m.

Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police are at the scene of the accident, which is still under investigation.

Support from local leaders, constituents and friends, including Governor Rick Snyder are pouring in via social media. Governor Snyder says he and his wife are heartbroken to hear the news, and said Representative Pettalia had a long career committed to helping the people he represented and served; whether as a volunteer firefighter, a township supervisor, or a state representative.
