Road Commission continuing efforts to build County Road 595
ISHPEMING — The Marquette County Road Commission will hold a press conference next week to announce their future plans in relation to the lawsuit they filed against the United States Environmental Protection Agency last year.
The commission filed the lawsuit against the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers for failing to act on a construction permit for County Road 595 back in 2013. The commission’s goal of creating a 21-mile road between County Road Triple-A and US-41 in Humboldt Township would reduce the amount of mine trucks in the City of Marquette and on US-41.
According to the lawsuit filed by the MCRC, the EPA had made up its mind to oppose County Road 595 even before their application was even submitted.
The MCRC is partnering with the Pacific Legal Foundation and Stand U.P. for a joint press conference on Tuesday, August 30th at 4:00 p.m.
