MARQUETTE — A downstate woman arrested in connection to an assault at a local store has entered a plea agreement.

Holly Bates, 31 of Muskegon, pleaded guilty to assault and battery and third degree retail fraud – both misdemeanor charges – in Marquette County District Court. She was originally charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, which is a felony.

Bates was arrested earlier this month after police were dispatched to Perkins Park Campground in Big Bay to investigate the assault at a nearby store. That investigation also resulted in the arrest of Taylor Trezona, 21 of Big Bay, in connection to a meth lab discovered in a pop-up camper at the campground.

Bates is scheduled to be sentenced on October 13th, while Trezona will have a preliminary exam on Tuesday.
