One dead, one hospitalized in possible murder-suicide
ALPHA — Police are investigating an incident in Alpha that left one woman dead and a man hospitalized.
Iron County Sheriff’s Deputies say they were dispatched to a residence in Alpha shortly before 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night on a report of gun shots and a possible murder-suicide situation. Deputies and EMS personnel arrived to find Jamie Lee James, 29 of Alpha, deceased. A male subject, also an Alpha resident, was located in the residence near James. He was transported to Aspirus Iron River Hospital by EMS and later airlifted to Madison, Wisconsin for medical treatment.
The man’s name is not being released pending the results of the investigation, which is ongoing. Police say there is no pending threat to the community.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Crystal Falls Police Department, Michigan State Police, Aspirus EMS, and Iron County Central Dispatch.
