Police, K9 unit find missing man
ONTONAGON COUNTY — A Western U.P. man has been found after he was reported missing.
Just after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a 78-year-old Merriweather man was missing. Police and K9 units found the man at 1:18 p.m. in a swampy area near a home.
The man was said to be in poor health. He was taken by ambulance to Aspirus Grand View and later to a hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin.
The man’s name and further information is not being released at this time. The Sheriff’s office was assisted by US Forest Service, Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Officers, Porcupine Mountains DNR, Michigan DNR, Michigan State Police K9 units from Gladstone and Negaunee Posts, Victim Services Unit, 911 Emergency Management Services Coordinator and Sonco Ambulance Personnel.
