Three pets perish in structure fire

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP — Three pets were killed Thursday afternoon after a structure fire at a home in Chocolay Township.

Just before 1:00 p.m., Chocolay Township Police and Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Acorn Trail. The interior of the home is considered to be a total loss.

“We got here, there was heavy smoke coming up of most of the windows,” said Lieutenant Brad Johnson with the Chocolay Township Fire Department, “out of the eves. We pulled an initial attack line and got it knocked down pretty quick probably within about ten minutes or so.”

No one was home when the fire started. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
