YMCA CEO resigns; layoffs expected
MARQUETTE — Lisa Coombs-Gerou has resigned her position as CEO of the YMCA of Marquette County effective Monday, April 4.
Senior Leader, Jenna Zdunek, who at 15 years is the longest serving employee, will assume the Interim CEO position. She has completed all Y-USA National executive leadership training and the board is confident in her ability to fulfill this role.
“The YMCA of Marquette County is facing financial difficulties. As previously announced, Y-USA’s operational and financial assessment will take place later this month. Based on our internal review, the board has determined that some immediate actions are necessary, which will include layoffs,” commented Chief Volunteer Officer, Dr. Greg Jones.
“The board of directors and senior leadership team are working together to ensure the future success of the Y and our programs. The Y’s board is committed to continuing the mission driven programs that strengthen the foundation of our community. We are confident that we can set the Y on the right path with our experienced and dedicated staff and the assistance of our community.”
