Santa makes a visit to famous neighborhood light display
MARQUETTE — When the Christmas Season comes around, you may put up a tree and throw a few strands of lights on the gutters, but one Marquette family goes above and beyond.
The Carters set up a holiday spectacle every year at their home in the hopes of getting the neighborhood in the Christmas spirit. They even went so far as to install an additional 100amp electric panel for all the lights.
“We just love to decorate. It started off small and each year it gets a little bit bigger and then it turns into this!” said John Carter, the mastermind behind the display, “Santa is here, Mrs. Claus is with him, there’s a couple elves. There’s a lot of little ones waiting for his arrival! We have people coming from Negaunee, Ishpeming, the senior centers, assisted living, and they all just love it. It brings back a memory of when they were young. Everybody loves it, obviously.”
Santa was at the Carter’s house from 6:00-8:00 p.m. He took pictures and added a few gift ideas to his list.
Stick with ABC 10, because we’ll have more on the Carters and their light display later this week.
