UPDATE: Names released in fatal domestic violence incident

UPDATE — 2:15 p.m. November 27th, 2015 (EST)

The names of the three people who died during a domestic violence incident in Marquette Township on Thanksgiving Day have been released.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post of the Michigan State Police say the three involved in the incident were 26-year-old Charles Masterson, 22-year-old Jessica Drummond, and 22-year-old Brodie Dagenais. All three were residents of the house on the 2300 block of Moran Street.

Police say the incident began around 4:40 a.m. Thursday with a 911 call to Marquette County Central Dispatch by Drummond. Initial investigation indicates that Masterson shot and killed Drummond and Dagenais with a firearm during a domestic dispute at the residence. It is believed that Masterson took his own life using the same firearm a short time later.

Autopsies were conducted Friday morning at UP Health System – Marquette. The incident remains under investigation.


MARQUETTE — Three people are dead after police discovered their bodies inside a Marquette Township home on Thursday.

Marquette County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from a residence on Moran Street about a domestic situation early Thursday morning. With assistance from the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team, the residence was entered and searched by police personnel.

Upon entering the residence, police found the bodies of two men and one woman. Their names are not being released at this time.

Police say that there is no further threat to public safety. The investigation is ongoing.
