Drug suspect enters guilty plea
MARQUETTE — One of the suspects arrested during an UPSET bust last month was arraigned in Marquette County Circuit Court Friday morning.
Twenty–five–year old Jennifer Savanguongsavanh of Milwaukee, Wisc. entered a guilty plea to the charge of possession with intent to deliver the schedule three narcotic dihydrocodeinone. That charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years.
As part of the plea agreement, she will testify if called upon to do so in the future. Prosecution also agreed that if her sentence includes incarceration, that time will be spent in jail rather than prison.
Savanguongsavanh was arrested by Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team detectives in mid–September in Ishpeming. During the arrest, detectives found drugs, packaging material for distribution, and over $4,000 in cash. Four children were present during that incident.
Thirty–three-year old Maurice Gray of South Bend, Ind. was also arrested at that time. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Circuit Court next week. Savanguongsavanh will be sentenced on December 4th.
